Who is Aras Aydın?

Aras Aydın is a Turkish television, film, and theater actor born in Ankara. He grew up in the capital city and is known for his strong family bonds. He has one sister and values his family deeply. Reflecting on his family life, he once said:

"I am very devoted to my family. I would put my own life on hold for them. I lost two wonderful people who kept unity and togetherness in our family—my grandfather and grandmother. I have never been more saddened by anything else in my life."

Childhood and Early Aspirations

Aydın was raised in a close-knit neighborhood in Ankara, initially dreaming of becoming an engineer. However, his artistic side emerged over time:

"We had older brothers in the neighborhood who looked after us. We played ball and grew up together. Engineering was always on my mind as a child, but at that age, life hasn’t really started for you yet. As I grew older, I realized my strong inclination towards the arts. My literature and art teachers in elementary, middle, and high school played a significant role in shaping me. When it came time to choose a career, I decided it would be either music or theater. Now, I am involved in both."

How Did His Acting Journey Begin?

Aydın's passion for acting was influenced by his father, who has written four poetry books and one essay book. As a child, he secretly read his father’s poetry and unconsciously acted them out while reading. Eventually, he started writing his own poetry, though he never considered making it a profession.

"Given the circumstances in Turkey, acting seemed like a more viable option. That’s when I moved to Istanbul. I took the entrance exam for Yeditepe University, got accepted, and never considered another institution."

Education

He graduated from Yeditepe University’s Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Theater.

First Steps in Acting

Aydın made his television debut in 2010 with the series "Öğretmen Kemal."

Breakthrough Role

He gained widespread recognition for his role as Emre Yiğit in the TV series "Kiraz Mevsimi."

Personality Traits

Aydın is a homebody, an avid reader and writer, and a dedicated worker.

"I am someone who thinks, strives to do good things, reads, writes, sketches, and keeps acting and music at the center of my life as a competitive force."

Hobbies and Interests

When he is not working, Aydın spends his time watching TV series and films, reading books, and fishing. He also engages in music, playing various instruments, painting, and writing.

His Perspective on Acting

Aydın believes that while appearance is important in acting, talent and skill sustain an actor’s career.

"People see visual appeal as a separate entity, but I am not afraid of looking ‘ugly’ on screen. If a scene requires me to cry, I will cry. I do what the role demands—I learned this from my mentors."

First Feature Film

His first film role was in "Oğlan Bizim Kız Bizim" directed by Semra Dündar.

Views on Love

He compares love to a child learning to ride a bicycle:

"Love is like a child who just learned to ride a bicycle, telling their mother every day that they want to ride it again. The same excitement, the same enthusiasm, the same passion. Once you learn love, you also learn to move forward, just like riding a bicycle."

Life Philosophy

Acting is his way of finding fulfillment in life.

"A person who chooses to be an actor commits to a lifetime of research, blending other people's lives with their own in a constant discovery process. This passion eventually becomes a way of life, sharpening observation skills and perception."

Perspective on His Career

For Aydın, acting is both an artistic expression and a form of personal rebellion.

"I once read a quote: ‘Acting is the revenge of the shy.’ To improve my craft, I watch many foreign TV series, read extensively, and attend plays whenever possible. I also analyze the emotion of a scene before performing it. The key elements of acting are hard work and discipline. Talent alone isn’t enough—consistent effort shapes a leading actor."

Future Career Goals

He aspires to take on unique roles, such as playing a serial killer, a disabled character, or a mute person, to bring attention to social issues.

"I want to portray characters with ‘imperfections’ that actually make people stronger, to raise awareness through my roles."

Long-Term Goals

His greatest ambition is to excel in his craft.

"Beyond being a good actor, my primary goal is to maintain discipline. If you stay consistent, good acting follows naturally. I want to take on challenging roles that push my limits. Additionally, I have songs that I have been keeping for years—I plan to release a single in the future."

Biggest Weakness

He admits that being highly emotional sometimes works against him.

"Being this emotional allows me to understand people better, but I also get demoralized easily. However, I always try to find constructive ways to move forward."

Passion for Music

Music is an integral part of his life.

"I am very passionate about music. I sleep with music, go to sets with music. I play several instruments, including the piano, guitar, and bağlama. I also compose songs, and when the time is right, I would love to release them."

Home Life

He enjoys spending time at home, especially near his collection of musical instruments.

"Music is therapy for me. No matter how tired I am, I always end up playing the piano or guitar. Writing also helps me relax. Additionally, I love cooking—I am quite the gourmet. If I weren’t an actor, I would have studied gastronomy and become a chef."

Fitness Routine

Despite his busy schedule, he makes time for exercise and follows a healthy diet.
