Meryem Sarah Uzerli (born August 12, 1983, Kassel) is a Turkish-German actress best known for her portrayal of Hürrem Sultan in the historical drama Muhteşem Yüzyıl (Magnificent Century).

Born in Kassel, Hesse, Germany, Meryem Uzerli is the youngest of four siblings. Her father is Turkish, and her mother is German. She later moved to Hamburg, where she studied acting at Schauspiel Studio Frese.

Career

2011-2013: Muhteşem Yüzyıl

After an extensive eight-month casting process, Meryem Uzerli was chosen to play Hürrem Sultan in the hit Turkish TV series Muhteşem Yüzyıl, written by Meral Okay and produced by Timur Savcı. The role brought her immense popularity, making her a household name in Turkey and abroad.

Her performance won her multiple awards, including two Best Actress Awards and the TV Stars Special Award in 2011, followed by a Best Actress in Drama Award in 2012. However, in 2013, she left the show due to burnout syndrome.

2012: Elidor Endorsement

In 2012, Uzerli became the face of Elidor Turkey and starred in several commercials. Her involvement extended beyond acting, as she also recorded songs for the brand's advertisements, earning widespread appreciation.

2016: Annemin Yarasi and Gecenin Kraliçesi

In 2016, Uzerli starred in Annemin Yarasi (My Mother's Wound), alongside Ozan Güven, Okan Yalabık, and Belçim Bilgin Erdoğan. The film premiered in Turkey on March 11, 2016.

She also played the lead role of Selin in the TV series Gecenin Kraliçesi (Queen of the Night), produced by 03 Production and directed by the Taylan Brothers. She co-starred with Murat Yıldırım in the series.
