Who is Zehra Günes?

Zehra Güneş was born on July 7, 1999, in Kartal, Istanbul. Originally of Balkan descent, she began playing volleyball at the age of 12 with VakıfBank Sports Club. Her talent quickly became evident, and she won national championships in both junior and youth categories.

At 15, she played on loan for Istanbul Büyükşehir Belediyesi, where she impressed with her performance. Continuing her career with VakıfBank, she also had a loan spell at Beşiktaş, winning multiple titles.

As a key player for the Turkish Women's National Volleyball Team, Zehra won a silver medal at the 2019 European Championship and a bronze medal in 2021. With VakıfBank, she has secured victories in major tournaments such as the FIVB Club World Championship, CEV Champions League, and Turkish League.

Standing 1.97 meters tall, she is a dominant middle blocker and has earned numerous individual awards. She was named Best Middle Blocker at the 2017 U18 and U20 World Championships, as well as at multiple FIVB Club World Championships.

Beyond her on-court success, Zehra Güneş is admired for her positive personality and inspiring presence. She has a large social media following, with significant popularity in Asia.
